Got a response from a Patriot News spokesperson

The Patriot News position is that PennLive and the Patriot are separate companies and the Patriot has nothing to do with PennLive forums. They referred me to someone at PennLive. I will follow up with them.

There has to be some other reason for this. Right now, I have apparently been banned altogether -I am unable to post anything on any forum. I guess that answers my question of whether they stand in solidarity with the Chinese government.

Looks like Harrisburg Girl was banned, too. I did get a response from a reporter, and he said that you have to create a new email address as well as a new identity to get by the block, and that some people are actually "deleted on sights."

We are quite a group, banned for asking about deleted posts, while others continue to post unfettered. Yes, the easy thing to do is to stop posting, but I hate to think that some stupid, ignorant censor at some second rate paper can escape scrutiny in this brave new world of ours.

I can't explain the other deletions, but perhaps the reason yesterday's posts were deleted were because they were ridiculous and repetetive (though to a lot of us, still funny.)

There were some anti-trust actions many years ago concerning papers and the lack of competition, but I don't remember the details. I'd have to check.

I guess jason has more influence with whoever the censor is than we do . . .
