Harrisburg Happening

Open letter on crime to Reed and King (our regular reader)

Yet again, we have been lied to and misled by Reed and King and the Harrisburg Police. It seems a band of roaming robbers have been targeting women walking in Midtown for robbery and pistol-whipping, with no word from the Administration to be on the look-out.

What will it take for some honesty from the administration? Why aren't reporters looking at the crime logs at Harrisburg Police stations? Is it because Reed is clueless or is he just protecting the image of Harrisburg as safe? Are they reporting crime to the FBI appropriately, or is that all a fraud?

Boo, Hiss, the administration for not informing the city residents of this crime spree. Maybe Mayor Reed wants to bury his head in the sand about crime in our fair city, but since "we" are the victims he needs to help protect us anyway possible, including releasing information in a timely manner. I'm beginning to think a drastic change in City Hall needs to take place....

It seems that public safety and open communication are the cornerstones of ANY government. This is basic stuff, and I hope people demand these basics, just as they should demand an elected school board.

I do not know why the concept of democracy has to be so revolutionary around here!

BTW, the person mugged was a good friend and someone I respect very much. This is just too much. The media are getting pretty peeved by the spin machine.

If Randy would like to keep me out of the paper, he needs to do his job...not the political job, but his REAL job: to be a spokesman to inform the people of what is really going on in our city. Well, I should not blame Randy. It is Mayor Reed who needs to set this tone.

Take care...PennLive is not the same without you all. Of course, maybe you ARE there and are simply censored to invisibility!

How bout we setup a sting and stage a "drunk" stagering around while we hide ...with baseball bats and nylon zip ties..then we can just dump'em at city hall...take it to the enemy..just like Israel...the current administration will NEVER address this, just wait...NOTHING will be done

Yeh, but they have guns. I think the better bet is an angry protest at the main police station by women.

I would participate in the angry woman protest at said police station except the pro-lifers have that corner all tied up today and if I go anywhere near them again I am going to hurt one of them severely and end up in the slammer myself.

Oh dear - the cost of civil protest keeps rising!

How about in front of the Mayor's house? Maybe we can stage a re-enactment so he can see what's going on in the 'hood. I'm willing to read from the crimes code the definition of simple assault versus aggravated assault versus indecent assault. They obviously have no clue.

Watch for a posting - I've got to work out some logistics and see if I can get enough females rounded up.

I don't think it should be just women....there are prob lots of pissed off men out there too (me..)the more bodies we can muster to show up, the more effect it will have.

LOL! Maybe I can round up a DINK Posse...

Sorry, I could not resist. ;-)

And just think, it isn't even "Mugging Season" yet. Mugging Season being Thanksgiving to Christmas...gotta buy those gifts.

Crime certainly does seem like it has been out-of-control for a while now.

I still like the vigilanti approach..I have a bunch of pent up / stuffed way down, frustration from catholic school Id like to vent...these scum won't understand anything except for pain and agression back at them. Heck, we can wait for their exodus to midtown and get 'em first...
