Horton Shooting

The Patriot has a front page story on the Horton shooting - identifying the officer in question and giving a brief account of the incident from his point of view. But now we learn that the records are sealed. That seems odd to me.

Thanks for the article post. I read the article, and yes the account of that evening does seem to change with time. At this point I don't know what really happened. But all of the reports aren't in yet. I would be interested in knowing the coroners report, I wonder if that will be sealed too? The police department and the district attorney need to speed this up a bit. The community needs to know what really happened and this delay just leads to speculation.

The whole thing is a mess. I really don't understand it. Nothing about it makes one shred of sense to me, on either side.

The Horton family continues their tirade on PL. What is that all about? Are they trying to sway public opinion to their point of view? Call me cynical but I believe they are, for the purpose of drawing attention to their cause that will either cause the DA to press charges against the police officer or will maximize the dollar amount in a civil lawsuit. If it comes down to a civil lawsuit, it will be interesting to see how much of the awarded amount will actually go to training and cameras for the police department. We shall see...
